Why should Barack Obama considered a celebrity?

Yes and no. Some of his political opponents accuse him of that term, saying he hangs around with Hollywood stars and spends too much time with the rich and famous. This is a political accusation, however. Mr. Obama spends most of his time governing, and performing the duties of the president, as he was elected to do.

On the other hand, there may be some truth to the description. Since he is the first black president, and since he is also photogenic, Mr. Obama is often on TV. Further, he has developed a good relationship with a number of professional athletes, actors and actresses, and music industry stars, who supported his campaign and became friendly with him. It should be noted, according to the reporters who know him, that he does not consider himself a celebrity. But because he is well-known all over the world, and because he is also popular with a majority of the public, some people do think of him in that way.
