Most major banks, such has Bank of America and Wachovia/Wells Fargo, will be open on New Year's Eve, despite the observance of New Year's Day. Smaller banks such as those serving local towns and credit unions will be closed. It is best to check with your bank.

*Note: Wall Street is open too.

Yes, Barclay's bank is open on New Years Eve. New Years Eve is not technically a holiday so they will be open but they will be closed on New Years Day.
