It's pretty risky to try to speak for God, but I'd say "Yes." If you're a believer, you have to accept the fact that God loves all Creation.

In the Discussion area, you will find comments about how various Biblical passages are interpreted. It's important to remember that the word "homosexual" does not appear anywhere in The Bible. The word was coined -- created -- in the 19th century by a German writer. It's also helpful to know that the word in Leviticus that is usually translated as "abomination" probably actually means something closer to "prohibited".

God loves everyone in the creation sense and does not condemn people for the way they were born. However, God holds people accountable for their behaviors. The Bible clearly says that men are not to lie with other men as with women. So that means your "orientation" or "inborn preference" doesn't matter. The Scriptures treat all people the same and make no exceptions.

To have God's special love and salvation, that requires a personal relationship with God. When you have this relationship, God will send the Holy Spirit to live inside you and take over, and sinful urges such as a desire for physical relations with people of the same gender will melt away.

If you believe God made you and you have not actually chosen to be Gay (i.e. that is just how you are naturally) then, by implication, God made you Gay.

This being the case how can it be against God.

God says very little on the subject. In fact, we're not exactly sure what God said about anything, since we don't have God's words in their original language, which was probably ancient Aramaic. But some translations have been interpreted to say that God disapproves of homosexuality.

Judging from the amount of text devoted to it, God is a lot more concerned about things like kindness and mercy, charity, justice and humility.

I never trust people who claim to know what God thinks. But for what it's worth, since (if you're a believer) you know that God created everything, "and God saw that it was good," then I would bet that God thinks gay people are as "good" (or bad) as straight people.

He thinks they need to repent - just as most of us do for our own various faults and shortcomings. That does not mean, of course, that He does not love them - as we love our children when they do err also, but it does mean that for our own growth and happiness, we all need repentance.

He does not prevent the children's free will, just as we cannot prevent that of our own children either.

If there is a god who made us all, then he or she made gay people too. All people are here to live full and happy lives. It is inconceivable that god would make people and then hate them.

Do not judge yourself or others by what people say. Many people are fearful of things they don't know or understand and become prejudiced against them.

A distinction should be made between opposing people and opposing any behaviors they may do. There is no evidence in any sacred religious writing that God actually hates gay people. Nobody should ever target a person for their sexual orientation regardless of how they got that way or whether sexual orientation is anything more than a social construct or not. There are plenty of passages that seem to condemn gay sexual behaviors. The Bible says not to lie with mankind as with womankind. In Genesis, God created male and female, and created them for each other. In no place does the Bible command, encourage, nor commend gay sex. Of course, some scholars have reinterpreted the passages to only condemn gay sex acts within the context of pedophilia and idolatry, saying that nothing is said that is inconsistent with responsible and loving gay relationships among consenting adults.

Lets consider this. The model prayer says "thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." God doesn't have relationships with other gods (a metaphoric type of gayness), and humans are not to worship other humans (metaphoric lesbianism). If you believe that God created men and women with different goals and purposes, then you might conclude that gay and lesbian relationships share the same dynamics with such things which God seemingly opposes or doesn't do. So overall, gay sexual behavior does not seem to be a part of God's original plan.

Surely God is against anything that harms His children. But God gives us all free will too. The topic of homosexuality has certainly become a divisive and contentious subject. God is not the author of confusion, contentiousness and chaos. People are being forbidden to follow their consciences and support only things that they believe God would have them support. God gave us our sexuality to enjoy and to use for procreation, not to use as a weapon to attack one another. God has a clear outline for sexuality in the Bible, and those who don't heed it do so at their own peril.

God does have love, mercy, and forgiveness available for everyone, including those who are involved in this and anything else in life.

In the Old Testament, God clearly said that gay or lesbian activity is a detestable sin. But that doesn't mean that God hates the person involved in the act. God hates the sin but loves the sinner.

NO -- of course, nobody actually knows how God feels about most things. We just make guesses based on the Bible, or what other religious leaders have said. But there's actually not much about homosexuality in the Bible. God apparently pays a great deal more attention to treating people -- even strangers -- fairly and mercifully.

More and more religious leaders are saying that homosexuality is a normal part of human sexuality, and since we were created by God, God must have created some of us as gay, lesbian, etc. If your particular faith frowns on homosexual behavior, remember that there's a difference between what a person does, and what a person is.

The Word of God, the Bible, is quite clear beginning in Genesis, that a man is to be with a woman - or remain single and not engaging in any sexual activity. The Scripture tells us for the most part, exactly how God thinks and feels via His Law and the multiple stories of Israel falling down and getting punished.

Regardless of what other humans may think or say, it is God who is supreme and only He will judge all mankind. His will not ours. His Law and not ours. The creature doesn't tell the Creator what is right and wrong.
