The above answer is incorrect. There are basically 3 blends of antifreeze. The original Green that has been around for years and should be changed every 20,000 miles. This is not to be used in modern vehicles. The manufactures have their own chemistry and you should stick with it. There is also the OAT type that is a long life coolant that you change every 100,000 miles. In addition there is the HOAT type used by some manufactures. Even some green antifreeze is a OAT blend so do not rely on the color. Your BMW blue is an ethylene glycol based, nitrite and phosphate=free extended formula HOAT. Use only this type coolant.
