no... As it is a bleaching agent,it adds colour to the material in contact with it. so it cant be applied onto coloured clothes.....:-(

Laundry borax to quote the popular brand advertised with mules is ".... Borax is comprised of 99.5% pure borax, a naturally occurring mineral composed of sodium, boron, oxygen, and water. (The scientific name for borax is sodium tetraborate decahydrate.) The remaining 0.5% is composed of trace minerals." It has many uses in the laundry and cleaningIt is NOT the same as "Washing Soda" which is sodium carbonate ( sodium, hydrogen, carbon and oxygen) and it also has many uses in laundry and cleaning.Do not confuse it with baking soda which is sodium BIcarbonate which has different uses in laundry and cleaning, and is the only one of the three safe to eat, if you remember it adds sodium to the diet like salt does.All three have different used in the laundry and for cleaning.Try seaching for "borax, washing soda, baking soda" at the same time or in pairs to get comparisons.There is a mix of good and terrible advice from amateurs, so check the website or consumer phone line of a manufacturer for each before you decide which to use when and especially before you mix with other cleaners or chemicals.If you know the difference between moose, Hair mousse, Chocolate Mousse, and mouse you can learn how these three are different.

Is Borax safe for the environment?
* No. It is a strong alkaline and will kill many organisms. That is why it is added to laundry detergent to kill off bacteria. * I'm not a fan of borax and own a business that uses objective criteria to judge if a cleaning chemical is truly green (borax would not meet the criteria), but as a chemist I can hardly call borax, with a pH in water of 9.5, a strong alkaline. It does dissociate well, but we're not talking sodium hydroxide, which is a strong alkaline with a pH of nearly 13. Borax is also a decent surfactant which is why I understand it's used in laundry detergents. It dissolves readily. Borax can be used as a pesticide. * Yes it is safe for the environment. Borax is a naturally occurring mineral and consists of water, sodium, boron and oxygen.
