Is Call of Duty World At War the same as Call of Duty 5?

No it is not the same COD5 is a Made up name, just like COD 6 COD 7 & COD 8. There are also no games named World at War 2 or Black Ops 2 and it is Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and not Modern Warfare 4 a game that might be released in November 2013

So although the three most recent games are not numbered as such, some think they could be considered games 6, 7, 8, and World at War as number 5. They are not the actual title anymore more than World at War 2 was the title for the Call of Duty Black Ops. Some individuals have even taken to calling the new Treyarch game that will be released in November 2012 as Call of Duty Black Ops 2, which is at least a little better than COD 9. They are not actual titles and should not be used. Some people have tried to use the made up names and should be called out with "there is no Call of Duty 5, 6, 7, etc". One reason they stopped using numbers is because their are two different COD 5 games Call of Duty World at War and Call of Duty World at War Final Fronts for the PS2. There are also more games in the Call of Duty series the numbering most closely is the years of game releases and not the games name or count of game titles.

i think that it depends what you like. if you like ww2 you will like cod5. but if you want modern warfare i suggest cod4. but i personally like cod4.

Call of Duty World at war is WW2 which is already over. Call Of Duty 5 is the one in Afghanistan, which is now happening.

No but that has not stopped people from calling Black Ops COD 7 and some will refer to MW3 as Call of Duty 8 learn the name of the games There never was a Call of Duty 5 only Call of Duty World at War
