There is a road down to a parking lot just a few yards above the beach. Drive slow, there are several blind corners. Walking south on the beach about a 1/2 mile, you will reach the point where the Elk River enters the ocean. In the spring or in low water years, this is about as far as you can proceed south on the beach because of the flow of the river. Going north on the beach, again about 1/2 mile, you will end up just below the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. There are nice tidal pools along the rocky point of the Cape.
