Great Britain has a long history in Christendom. When the Catholic's held power through the monarchy, protestants were persecuted. It also worked vice versa. From this old conflict the English who became American put an amendment into the constitution of the United States that purposes that there should be no establishment of a state religion avoiding the bringing of governmental persecution to those who choose to serve God in one denomination or another.
Some could call it the fault of Christianity but in truth it is the abandonment of true Christianity that brought the persecution of either group. Certainly the laws that define stealing, to rape, to manslaughter, to first degree murder are based on the Old Testament. True belief in the word of God and an adherence to it, is the cornerstone of a republic form of government which we and Great Britain have installed.
