I have heard that Claire's now uses 'Mini' piercing guns that are used just once.
Unless Claire's has started using piercing needles to pierce ears, then it is not a good place to get a piercing. To my knowledge, Claire's uses a gun-style piercer, which not only traumatizes tissue since it forces the dull post of an earring through your lobe, but it cannot be cleaned properly. If you want your ears pierced, visit a piercing/tattoo salon or you could even ask your doctor. Piercings should be done with hollow, bevel-tip, sterilized needles - the bevel tip does not traumatize the tissue like a gun-style piercer would and the hollow needle allows for jewelry to be placed easily and quickly.
Bottom line, do your research, are they licensed to provide piercing services? Do they have a health inspection report indicating they are inspected to provide piercing services? Do they have a business license indicating they are permitted to do any form of piercing services? Chances are the answer will be "No" in all counts. Piercing gun studios never get licensed to provide piercing services, they license under "retail sales" this is a grey area where they sell other stuff and piercing is not there main business income. However under federal health regulations if you are providing services on the human body you MUST be licensed as a Personal Service Establishment (PSE) and are subject to a health inspection conducted yearly.
So if you really want to be safe spend the cash and see an actual professional body piercer for all your piercing needs, licensed and inspected to provide services in a clean and safe environment. They are also there should you have issues with your piercings, The other guys will just send you to your doctor. Think about it.

∙ 13y agoNo. You don;t ever want to get anything pierced with a gun. They cause a ton of trauma to your ear. They also greatly increase the risk of infection. Not to mention the possibility of it malfunctioning and getting stuck on your ear. The people at claires who pierce ears only read a short book so their "training" takes less than an hour. GO to a professional. To be licensed, they have to go through months of apprenticeship and they have to take basic firt aid classes and blood borne pathogen classes.

yes, but only if they use needles. The Claire's I go to does. If they use guns, then you should go to a doctor or piercing shop. No matter where you get them pierced always clean and twist them.

No it's not, see claire's does something called silver piercing, and silver piercing isn't as good for your ears, and then after you get your ears pierced there they get very irritated and gross, and they hurt a lot, so get your ears pierced at a jewelers, or a doctor's. I agree. Claire's is an alright place to gt your ears pierced, but I would recommend Piercing Pagoda, because they specialize in ear piercings, and they have very high quality earrings. Claire's is a good place to get earrings after you have gotten your ears pierced, but, I would most recommend getting them pierced somewhere else.

When I got my ears peirced (last month at claires) I got my birthstone earrings and they were 39.99. The piercing itself doent cost anything, you pay for the earrings. Getting your ears pierced at Claire's is: 1. Unsanitary. 2. Not safe. The people there are not professional piercers. They reuse the same piercing gun on everyone. That's gross. Go to a tattoo/body piecing shop. Research and make sure that the shop is clean and has a good reputation in your community.

if oregon has a walmart or claires (which it should) you can get it done there, usually for free too. all you'd have to pay for is the earing. i got my cartilage done at a walmart, and the other ear peircings at claires. i recomend either of these stores if your looking for cheap but good quality ear peircings.

NOO! They pierce with nickel and you need to pierce with gold! If you pierce with nickel you can get serious infections like me and all my friends that got them done there. Some have to have surgery... so no would be the answer. A good place to get them pierced is Piercing Pagoda.
