In warhammer terms TAU is a young yet sophisticated army which includes kroots and fire units. Personally I believe Tau are the best with Eldar in warhammer 40k.

Eldar are supposed to be a colorful army, whos color scheme is based on the type of unit. Go look through some images of how the Heavy Metal team (GW employees) paints them. Also if you look in the back of your codex there are like 10 pages on examples of painted models.
