Why does Naruto punch Gaara in Naruto Shippuden?
Naruto NEVER punched Gaara in Shippuden. He only did so when they were fighting in a kind of forest. (episode 79) and that's because he had to defend sakura and sasuke (who was beaten up) ***EDIT*** But he did in the 3rd Shippuden movie. To summarize, Naruto was on his way to rescue Kakashi, and Gaara got in his way. ^w^ I kinda don't like how Gaara's portrayed in that movie... but whatever. It's a good movie, anyway, I recommend it. :D

Well, in one of the episodes after they find Gaara (his chakra ran out at the final chunin exam test and he and his group were forced to flee, then he is being chased by Sasuke, who is being chased by Naruto and Sakura and Shikamaru and Pakku) he has turned into the sand demon and trapped Sakura, so Naruto summons the king of toads, then they use a transformation jutsu to turn into the nine tailed fox because the king of toads needs something that has teeth and claws to grip the sand demon firmly enough to give Naruto a good shot at Gaara. :) YOU ARE WELCOME :)
