It depends on your point of view of which do you consider a "common ailment".
When compared to colds and flus it isn't so common. Seeing from another point of view, I can tell you that it isn't a serious disease, that can be solved with treatments and a simple surgery. I think that it is caused by excess of cholesterol and calcium in the blood stream, and may be it has some connection with hereditary factors.
