The country of Ireland, sometimes referred to as the Republic of Ireland, and often incorrectly referred to as Southern Ireland, is not in the UK. Northern Ireland (which contains the majority of the province of Ulster) is in the UK. The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are both on the island of Ireland. As a result, Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK with a land border, sharing it with the Republic of Ireland.

Somewhat.

Part of Ireland did and part didn't, therefore causing a certain area of Ireland - that became known as Northern Ireland - to remain in the UK.

The Republic of Ireland (or just Ireland) left the United Kingdom and are independent.

So Ireland is not in the UK, but Northern Ireland is.

No. What is now officially called Éire or Ireland and often referred to as the Republic of Ireland got its independence from the United Kingdom in 1922. Not the entire island of Ireland got its independence, so when this happened what is known as Northern Ireland was created and it is still part of the United Kingdom. The island of Ireland has 32 counties, 26 in the Republic of Ireland and 6 in Northern Ireland.

No. Ireland is one island; Britain is another Island. England occupies the southern part of Britain.

Northern Ireland is a part of the country called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Republic of Ireland, which occupies most of the island of Ireland, is an independent nation.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but not Ireland. Ireland is sometimes incorrectly referred to as southern Ireland to distinguish it from Northern Ireland.
