Not exactly.

The entire region was called Israel up until the year 70 CE. From 70 CE to 1948 CE, it was called Palestine, named by the Romans, after Israel's enemy (the Phillistines).

After 1948, it was partitioned into two separate countries, called Israel and Palestine; however, the people who today are called "Palestinians" did not accept the partition, and two wars later, Israel had control of the areas that were designated "Palestine".

Yes. The modern state of Israel and the ancient kingdom of Israel both occupy areas in the land also known as Palestine. The ancient kingdom of David and Solomon broke into two kingdoms, Israel (to the north) and Judah (to the south). Much later, Judah was the name of a Roman province. After the second Jewish revolt in the year 132, Rome renamed Judah, Samaria and the Galilee Palestinia, which became Palestine in English. It remained Palestine under various rulers until 1948, when the UN partitioned it into Jewish and Arab Palestine. Jewish Palestine immediately declared itself to be the modern nation-state of Israel. Syria, Egypt and the relatively new kingdom of Jordan immediately annexed Arab Palestine as they fought to prevent Israeli independence. Then Israel took Palestine, and modern Palestinian nationalism grew under Israeli occupation.

Is palestine a developing country?

Technically Palestine is'nt a country,it's under israeli occupation but recently got accepted by the U.N as U.N non member observer status. Yes, Palestine is a developing,i guess one can call it country. Its development is severely hindered due to the israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and restrictions of Palestinian exports and imports. Palestine's development would triple if the israeli restrictions were lifted and the occupation were over.
