No. Easter day is the day that we celebrate the resurection of Jesus. That is the day that we celebrate his rising from the dead. He died on the cross on the Friday, three inclusive days before.

Jesus did die on a cross to be a saviour and to save us all. For that Christians praise and honor him.

Jesus was crucified on a Roman cross with the method reserved for the worst of criminals.

Catholic perspective/Church teaching:Yes, the Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ died on a wooden, Latin Cross.

Our Fathers word:

John 19:17 " And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on ether side on and Jesus in the midst..

The english word cross used here is taken from the Greek word 4716 - Stauros "stow-ros" from the base of 2476, a stake or post as set upright i.e. specifically a pole or a cross as an instrument of capital punishment, figuratively exposure to death i.e. self denial, by implying the atonement of Christ - This greek word is translated to the english word - cross.

Punishment by Cross: You would be nailed to a cross which caused you to hang by your arms (being bent behind you), eventually you would die of pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs). Its a very painful and agonizing way to die. It takes several hours for your lungs to slowly fill with fluid.

The pole mentioned is a very gruesome death and I will not mention the details here as it was not the way Christ died.

Jesus did not die on December 25th and furthermore Jesus did not die on a cross. He died on a stake. Using a "cross" is an incorrect description.
