Christianity is not a religion, first of all, for those of you who think it is. and Jesus will come back to earth when he comes, so be prepared. Jesus is not necessarily on earth, though he is always with us. this is a complicated answer, so i hope i answered your question.

The main reason that Jesus came into the world was to be a sacrifice for the sins of the world. When He died on that cross Satan was defeated. In the short time He was here He also taught, healed, raised the dead, and lived a perfect and sinless life as an example to the world how we should live.

Jesus' job is to tend to those whom His Father has given to Him. He is training and teaching God's elect, through His Word, to obey the Commandments of God... to know and understand the Truth of His Word... and to develop and grow into the Children of God with loving, Godly character. Ultimately, this will lead to eternal life in the Kingdom of God... of whom, the ones God is calling now, will inherit and co-rule with Jesus.

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ..." (Rom.8:16).

And so, Jesus is our High Priest in heaven, interceding to His Father on our behalf, if indeed the Father is calling us.

"...because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them..." (Heb.7:24-25).

Jesus' job is to bring God's Children to salvation through obedience to the Truth of His Word.

"...If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free." (John 8:31-32)
