Advance Australia Fair was adopted as the National anthem of Australia on 19 April 1984.
After a Public Opinon poll in 1974, the then Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam, announced that "Advance Australia Fair" would be Australia's new National Anthem, the tune suggested and favoured by his wife Margaret. This change was short-lived and we returned to "God Save the Queen". A further National Poll in 1977 chose "Advance Australia Fair" as the new National Anthem again, with 2.9 million votes. Finally, "Advance Australia Fair" was proclaimed as the new Australian National Anthem on the 19th of April, 1984.
The Australian national anthem is titled "Advance Australia Fair". It was nearly "Waltzing Matilda". This has become Australia's second, or unofficial anthem.
Australians celebrated Australia Day which is a national day filled with festivals and celebrations. Australia Day is known as the anniversary of the day Europeans came to Australia in 1788.

No. It did not. Sydney and Melbourne were in heavy competition to each be named the new capital city of the Commonwealth of Australia. It was decided that, due to this rivalry, a new city would be created specifically for the purpose of being the seat of national government in Australia. Hence, Canberra was born.
Melbourne was never the capital city of Australia. Considerable rivalry existed between Sydney and Melbourne, Australia's two largest cities. For this reason, it was decided that the national capital could not be either city. However, Melbourne was the temporary seat of power in Australia - a fine line of difference. From 1901 to 1927, the Australian Parliament met in Parliament House, Melbourne, which it borrowed from the parliament of the state of Victoria, which in turn sat in the Exhibition Building. This had to occur whilst the city of Canberra and Parliament House was being built.

There is some debate about whether Melbourne acted as national capital prior to 1927. It did not. There was too much rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne for this to be possible. Melbourne was the only city with a building large enough to hold the Federal Parliament, so that is why Parliament met there. Melbourne was never awarded the status of being Australia's national capital, even temporarily.
The city of Chelsea is located at the coordinates of 38 degrees south and 145 degrees east. That is on the continent of Australia.
