Okay from what we have found out so far 2012, it looks like Krakatoa is a super volcano.

The was a earlier Caldera forming eruption, which split the main land of Java and Sumatra apart. This lead to the formation of the Sunda Straits. (super eruption)

In recent eruptions it has not had a large super eruption, but as we all know who like the story of Krakatoa it 'child' Anakrakatoa is a source of concern.
