Is Lord of the Ringso a good game to play?

Well, I think i could give a small review (Used to play it). For a good adventure and thrill, this game is perfect. There are tons of creatures form The Lord of the Rings. The game was developed (I think, not 100% sure) by the same people who made World of Warcraft (WOW). (Yeah, still not sure, I hope someone enters that info in a later edit). LOTRO is one of my favorite Mmos. (Just drained my wallet.) So, i guess you could say you have an answer!

OVERVIEW

'LOTRO' (Lord of the Rings Online) has recently become Free to Play, with an optional subscription available, set at a price similar to other sub based MMOs. The primary revenue generator for the game is the "LOTRO Store", an in-game service using a micro-transaction system (in-game items and services are available to purchase with a credit card or through PayPal). The game is developed and patched by Turbine, developer of Dungeons and Dragons online and various other games. The game is very similar to other mainstream MMOs in many respects (read: WoW) although the class system is very rigid.

GENERAL GAMEPLAY

Combat in the game is well done, as is the questing, although the game has become more grind-oriented recently. The area in which the game is excellent is the Lore (obviously). The failings of the game, while not numerous are significant and include a lack of real PvP (the game does have a system called "PvMP" or Player vs Monster Player) that allows players to create. a "Monster Player" already at maximum level, with which they might fight normal players in a specially designated area called the 'Etenmoors'.

PLAYABLE RACES AND CLASSES

Hobbits (M/F), Dwarves (Male only), Men and Elves are playable.

Lore-keeper, Minstrel, Hunter, Champion, Guardian, Burglar, Captain and Warden are the playable classes.

END-GAME CONTENT

Simply put, there is not enough and it is not released frequently enough for the vast majority of players. The content that does exist is generally well-done and entertaining, but new end-game content is rarely released. The system itself is similar to World of Warcraft's, in that there is a progression from smaller, 5 player "expert" dungeons, 10 player "raids" (content is on a larger scale, more significant to the storyline and is also significantly more difficult than 5 player encounters) and there a 24 player "raid" format is also available (which is generally more difficult than 10 player content).

CONCLUSION (TL;DR)

A very solid game, probably the best Free to Play in the industry currently (you will, however, end up spending SOME money if you want to progress far in the game). Many players will also find the game good enough to validate paying a subscription. The graphics are more recent than WoW's and very well done. Very similar to other mainstream MMOs (WoW and others), with most of the essential features (crafting, questing, character customization, end game content, a form of PvP). The lore is the game's strongest point. The lack of REAL PvP is the game's most significant failure. The end-game content that is available is well made and enjoyable, but new content isn't released frequently enough. LOTR fans will enjoy this game the most, but even those unfamiliar with the franchise will enjoy the game.

VERDICT (TL;DR of the TL;DR).

Solid game, VERY similar to WoW in almost all respects other than PvP. LOTR fans will get the most enjoyment out of it, but others will also enjoy it.
