It is definitly dual display
You need to go into the preferences and set up the display settings, ATM it's doing a dual display thing, you want it to either mirror the display or just only use the external display :)
Currently there is no adapter of any sort that would allow the Nintendo Ds to output video to any other sort of display or TV besides its built in dual screens.

For a trace generator I think you mean a signal or a function generator which generates electrical waveforms of varying shapes, frequency and amplitude. Dual core is two cores on one chip. core 2 duo is two separate chips. Dual core is slower because they have to share the same input output stream.

You have to have a DVD player that can play PAL DVDs. Some dual format players, particularly sold in the US, convert the PAL format so it is output in NTSC format.
