While Martian Manhunter is certaintly one of the most powerful heroes within the DCU, he isn't the strongest and can be defeated easily, his main weakness being fire and I can think of 6 fire based villains in the DCU without thinking. In terms of all around strength and power I'd say Spectre is the strongest hero in the DCU, but as far as story and mythos Batman would be the best.
