They are similar, but different. Memorial Day honors all US military personnel who have died during any war or military action in which the United States has been involved. Veterans Day honors all US Military personnel past and present, living and dead.

Yes! The Department of Veterans' Affairs began a campaign in 2006 to encourage all veterans to wear their medals on Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Veterans' Day.
