No Mexican is a nationality, the race of most Mexicans is white do to the fat that most are descendents of Spanish colonist. Though most Mexicans are mestizos or of mixed of both natives of Mexico (Aztecs, Mayans, etc.) and Spanish which is why most Mexicans have Spanish last names like Gutierrez, Gonzales, Ramirez, Salinas, etc.. There are a few black Mexicans because the Spanish brought some slaves with them when they conquered Mexico.

Mexicans also chose on their own to classify themselves as "Latin" or "Hispanic" to change their status from basic white as they had always been classified, to their own "Latin" feel. This also shows the world that there is more to life than just being "white" or any race. It may have been seen as an insult to the so called "white" that the Mexicans did not want to be considered general "White" but that is not the intention. Every person is their own custom "race" for that matter. No two people are alike

If la raza was told it means long live the Mexican race then what race are the Mexicans a combination or one only?

I am not able to fully understand your question. However, in it you say, dangeoursly I think, "Mexican race". Who told you such a lie? There is no thing as a "Mexican race". Mexicans, as many other Latin American inhabitants are European and early American descendents, with the sole exception of a South American country. In that country its citicenz descend from ships. I don't know what the above paragraph is talking about, but Hispanics or latinos in general are a mix of native (indigenous people), europeans (particularly spanish) and others including Arabs and africans. Cuban, PRs, and others from islands may be more mixed that central or south Americans due to more people travelling there throughout history. So Mexican is a nationality, not a race. Latino or hispanic is the race, but a race make from the mixing of other races, in particular spanish and native. And don't forget about the portuguese ancestory in Brazil. It's complicated.

Do you belong to the Hispanic race if your grandpa is Mexican but the rest of your family is white?

If your grandfather is Mexican then you are part Mexican, or Hispanic. As to being white, please be aware of the fact that there are whites in all nationalities. I'm Hispanic and I'm white, my family originated in Europe, Spain and France to be exact.
