Its 2,470 m (8,104 ft) eastern wall is also the tallest in the Alps[2] and its western side is covered by the Gorner Glacier, the second largest in the Alps. The peak is located in the canton of Valais in the municipality of Zermatt. The mountains in the north of Italy are called "Alpi" in Italian and "Alps" in English. It's a mountain chain and it's divided in: "Easterns Alps"("Alpi Orientali" in Italian); "Centrals Alps"("Alpi Centrali"); and "Westerns Alps"("Alpi Occidentali"). The most famous mountains are: "Il Monte Bianco"("The White Mount" in English); and "Il Monte Rosa"("The Pink Mount").
Italy's four highest mountains are in the Piedmont and Valle d' Aosta area of the Alps: Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) with a height of 4,765 metres, Monte Rosa (4,634 m) Grenzgipfel (4,618 m) and Punta Nordend (4,609 m). Mont Blanc is on the Border with France. The others are on the border with the Canton Valais of Switzerland. Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa are the two highest mountains in the Alps.
