It really depends on which pageant you go to. Sometimes, it would be considered to be a scam becuase of it's unruly high prices. But, its truly worth it to raise the money to go.

Yes. I have been in the pageant and I love that it is not like any other pageant. National American Miss is not a scam, it is definitely different from the other pageants. You don't wear swimsuits, except to have fun at the hotel pool. There is no required Talent, it has lower cost, focus on fun, no makeup until you are a teenager, but while it is not like the other pageants, it is still very much a valid pageant. National American Miss gives out so much stuff that they actually give out a free new car as a door prize among the girls that are there. That's hot! I am not quite sure what the exact year this organization was created (sometime around 2002/2003?). From what I understand some of the organizers of the American Coed pageant system split and decided to organize NAM (National American Miss). I'm not the same person who answered this question in the first place, but I know that all the letters and websites for National American Miss say they have been around for 28 years. They still have videos online of girls who won way back in like, the 1990s or something.
