they are nothing more than a potential threat with a lot of firepower, nuclear weapons. they are known to break promises obama was foolish to give them food-aid
YES
Technically, North Korea isn't our enemy... they just hate us, and the feeling is generally mutual. South Korea on the other hand, is our close ally. America and South Korea even conduct routine military training operations in South Korea.
Because of the Korean War. In the 1950s, there was a war between capitalist South Korea and communist North Korea. The U.S. fought in the war on the side of South Korea, so now North Korea blames the U.S. for all its problems.
"Accept our bank or be the enemy."
It was fought in the north and the south of Korea with both sides making pushes into enemy territory. The war ended dead in the middle of Korea when the Chinese pushed the Americans back to south koreas borders.
The USS Pueblo, captured by North Korea in 1968.
They believed the enemy would invade them next.
Most probably, the threats are an excuse to keep North Korea's people united against aforeign enemy so that they won't rebel against their government.
Of course. North Korean schools mostly teach about Kim Il-sung and his family, and about how the U.S. and Japan are "the enemy".
Singapore don't really have any enemies as they can't attack but only defend... Maybe North Korea is their enemy?
North Korea is communist South Korea is capitalist
Tensions have remained high between North and South Korea because North Korea is a failed state. Communism is organized along military lines. The President of North Korea must have an enemy in order to convince his people to live with their privations. His people live like army privates. Normal people do not. He does not know how to change the situation if he wants to. He needs an enemy in order to remain in power.
