Yes.
Open Office download is FREE. It's what's called 'open source' software.
Open source software is designed to do exactly what its closed source (paid software) counterpart is to do. Open Office for example is free to use and does the same thing as Microsoft office that costs hundreds.

It is an open-source, free, office suite (kind of like MS Office). See related links for more information.

Open Office is a great open source business productivity suite. It is a Java product and is freely distributable.
If you mean an activation code - there isn't one ! Open Office is 'open source' meaning it's free for any one to use. It doesn't require activating or registering.
Yes. The source code for Open Office.org is freely available. You can download it, modify it and compile it but you are not permitted to sell it as stipulated in the GNU license agreement.
The free office accounting software I know about are Libre office and Open office. They are both based on the same open source software and depend of java to be installed to run correctly.
The two main differences are:- MS Office has to be paid for - OpenOffice is free to download, and... MS Office is a copyright program - OpenOffice is 'open source' This means that Microsoft will NOT licence the end user (you and me) to make changes to their program. Open source means OpenOffice is capable of being edited by the end user to suit their needs.
