Information on the actual Intrusion is limited by security considerations and criminal procedures. Latest Sony post under related link said they will begin the procedure to restore services regionally first week of May 2011 and have started a program to provide customer bonuses. If your PS3 is under warranty you can get it fixed for free if you did not do something like spill liquids on it.
This new bug with the PS3 is caused by a error with the PS3s internal clock. Sony says that this bug should be fixed in around 24 hours, but until then, it is advised that you don't use your PS3. Some are reporting that the bug has been fixed, however.

Yes it can corrupt your system because i was at my house with my ps3 and i put in star wars the force unleashed and my system put on a white screen and turned off, the next time i tried to turn it on it froze and did the same thing it did before so i called the play station network and told them and i had to turn in my ps3 to get it fixed and they fixed it, and i never put a ps2 game in a ps3 system again
