The number at the end is just the regional variant. They are all exactly the same model with the exact same specifications, the only difference is the regional encoding and locking for certain things.
A PSP 3002 is a PSP-3000 ('brite') for Australia and New Zealand. What it means is, the firmware is region locked to only allow Region 4 UMD movies to be played on it, though games from any region will work.

no probably not the 3000 is an up grade from the 2000 so it has different internal connectors even tho the screen is the same size it wont be able to be done without modification's.

I have both the psp 3000 and go in front of me and i have to say that there is not a significant difference in sound. The psp 3000 does sound alot clearer but they are both about the same for volume.
