Raleigh is an okay place to live. It is by far not the best place to live. It all really depends on what you are looking for. The city has grown a lot and keeps growing b/c of all the people from the northern states relocating here. It is a good city to raise a family in (especially in the Cary, Apex suburbs). Avoid the Capital Blvd area; east Raleigh has more crime than West or North West Raleigh. Despite the growth, there is not much to do in Raleigh. It is quite a boring place to live. Basically the city shuts down at 9PM! It is also not as cheap to live here as a lot of people think. YOu are TAXED to death in Raleigh. Also, the job market has taken a huge hit here. There are not jobs here like there used to be. If you are looking for a city feel, city excitement, great nightlife, tons of things to do then look eslewhere! Raleigh is not it! I know several people that were lured here b/c they have heard some good things about to only be fooled.

∙ 11y agoIf you don't want to live within Raleigh, you could try looking in Garner, Knightdale, Rolesville, Clayton, Smithfield, Selma, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Apex, Cary... we could narrow down this list a bit if you had a specific distance in mind.
