No. Windows Media Player is not the only audio/media player for Windows OS. There are other popular media player too. Some of them are VLC, Real Player, QuickPlay, etc.
Windows Media Player.
You have to find a program to convert the files first.
This is probably because real player uses a different format then windows media player (usualy .wma). Usually a format converter will solve this problem by taking the real player file, and making it into a windows media file. Try searching the internet for real media to mp3 converter, or something like that. Usually you can find free software to convert your files. Hope this helps!
One can download a good AVI player for windows from the Real Player website. VLC player is also widely recommended as a good AVI player for windows and will play almost any video file. This can be downloaded from a Cnet.
There is no major difference between and real player or media player, they both play videos. Real player may be a bit more updated than media player and is being used more lately.
It helps run windows media player and is needed for windows media player to work so you shouldn't delete it or media player probably won't work (I haven't tried it out) but I recommend you don't none the less.
They should be at "C:\Documents and Settings\<windows user>\Application Data\Real\RealPlayer Downloads"
use a Mp3 player like Media Monkey, Real Player, Itunes or you should be able to do it via windows MY Computer..

Windows 7 has the Windows Media player.
Yes, however I would recommend using Windows Media Player more. It is, in my opinion, much better!
