Which Rod Bishop? The photographer? The singer? The Air Force Commander? Either way, I couldn't find anything indicating that any of them are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church).

How many Mormon bishops are there in the world?

Currently (December 2011) there are 21,072 Bishops (leaders of large Mormon congregations) and 7,610 Branch Presidents (leaders of small Mormon congregations) worldwide. Typically, a Bishop is a man called out of the congregation to lead the congregation for about 5 years. Most Mormon men will serve as a Bishop or as a Bishop's assistant, secretary, or clerk within their lifetime.

How do you address a Mormon bishop and his wife?

If you are not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church), a Mormon bishop will not be offended if you call him by his first name or Mr. (last name). If you would like to, you may address him the way that his congregation would, by calling him Bishop (last name), such as Bishop Johnson. The same would go for his wife. You may call her by her first name or Mrs. (last name), but you may call her as the congregation would. All women in a Mormon congregation are addressed as Sister (last name). So, the way a congregation member might address them is "Bishop and Sister Johnson" or "Bishop Johnson and his wife Susan". But they will not be offended if you call them "Joe and Susan" or "Mr. and Mrs. Johnson". Outside of church settings, it is acceptable to use their names and not their religious titles.

Can a mormon girl marry a guy with kids?

Yes, if she wants to! If the guy is not a member of the church, they will not be able to be married in the temple, but they can be married in a Mormon Meetinghouse by her bishop for free or in any other kind of ceremony.

Can a Mormon marry a divorcee?

Yes, a Mormon can marry a divorcee. You should probably consult your Bishop or Branch President if there was a temple sealing involved though, just to make sure everything is cool beforehand.

Can a mormon priest married a nondimentinal couple?

A Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) can perform the marriage of a nondenominational couple and will provide the service for free. He might also allow the couple to use the church building free of charge as well, so long as it is not reserved for a church activity. Mormon Bishops can perform marriages either in their own church buildings, in reception centers, homes, or outdoor locations, but not in church buildings of other religions. If you are outside the United States, you will need to be aware that in some nations, Mormon Bishops are not legally authorized to perform a marriage. Check with a Bishop or with local authorities to determine if it is legal. Mormon Priests are typically 16-20 year old boys. While they can perform baptisms, they are not legally able to perform marriages. The title of the man who leads a Mormon congregation is a Bishop, not a Priest. Bishops can legally perform marriages.

Who is Utah's representative?

Yes. Rob Bishop (R), Jason Chaffetz (R), and Jim Matheson (D) are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church). Rob Bishop was raised a Mormon and served as a missionary in Germany. He taught Government, History, and German in Utah high schools from 1974 to 2002. Jason Chaffetz was not raised a Mormon, but converted while in college. Growing up, his father was Jewish and his mother was a Christian Scientist. He was a democrat until meeting Ronald Reagan in 1990. Jim Matheson was raised a Mormon and comes from a prominant political family in Utah. His father was also a Democrat and was governor of Utah from 1977 to 1985.

Will Mormons give us help?

Yes. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) and its members will provide assistance to anyone in need. If you are in need of assistance and would like the Mormon Church to help, contact the Bishop of your local Mormon congregation. He will meet with you to discuss your needs and determine how the Church may be able to help.

Was Jacob Samuelson a Mormon bishop in 1857?

There is no list of every bishop available online. The only way to get this information would be to contact the Church History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They will probably have a record of those who have been ordained Bishops.

Was Mitt Romney head of the ma mormon church?

No. Mitt Romney has held leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) but was never a leader of the church in the entire state of Massachusetts. Mitt Romney served as a Bishop of a Mormon congregation in Belmont, MA in the 1980's. A Mormon Bishop is the leader of the congregation, but unlike pastors and ministers of other faiths, Bishops are unpaid and preach only occassionally. Bishops spend most of their time meeting with congregation members and looking out for their welfare. Mitt Romney served as a Stake President in Belmont, MA in the 1990's. A Stake President oversees a group of several congregations (usually 5-10) and is also unpaid. Most of their time is dedicated to supporting Bishops and other local leaders. Being a Bishop or Stake President is actually quite a common thing in the Mormon Church, and it is a temporary position usually lasting 5 years. It is safe to say that most Mormon men who are active in the faith will serve as a Bishop, Stake President, or as an assistant to a Bishop or Stake President at least once in their lifetime. In fact, there isn't a leader of the Mormon Church in Massachuetts. Massachusetts is part of the North America Northeast Area, which covers New England, Pennsylvania, Eastern Canada, New York, and Washington DC. An Area is made up of several Stakes and is lead by a Seventy. Check out the "Related Links" below to see an article about Mitt Romney as a Church leader.

Can a recent baptized Mormon also be an assistant bishop?

Yes. Any married adult male who has recenly converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon"church) can be ordained as a counselor to the Bishop. In fact, they are sometimes ordained as Bishops within the first year of their conversion! This is because adult male converts are generally ordained to the priesthood within the same month of their baptism, making them eligible for most positions of authority within the Church. Be aware, however, that positions of priesthood authority, such as a bishop or bishop's counselor, are not something that you apply or request to do. A Church leader must come to you and ask if you would be willing to fill the position, not the other way around.
