He appointed Peter as the His first Vicar on earth (the first Pope) and he and his successors will rule the Church of Christ until Jesus returns. Jesus guaranteed that His Church would remain One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The use of the word, Christian, to refer to practically anyone and anything these days is to be deplored. The use of the word, Christian, to exclude the Catholic Christian Church is either hubris or ignorance.
