∙ 13y agoRosaline is the niece of Capulet in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Although silent and invisible, her role is important: Romeo first sees Juliet after crashing the Capulets' party to catch a glimpse of Rosaline.
Scholars generally contrast Romeo's short-lived love of Rosaline with his later love of Juliet. Romeo's lines about Rosaline are much lamer than those he speaks after meeting Juliet.
