They are the same in that Samoans in American Samoa and Samoa (once Western Samoa) have the same heritage. However, American Samoa is a US territory while Samoa is an independent nation. So they are in effect two different countries.
Can you make sense? Samoa's a country, and the US got American Samoa from the country of [Actual] Samoa, maybe?Eastern Samoa and Western Samoa (as they were referred to in colonial times) were all one country to begin with. During the 1st world war, America occupied American Samoa and Germany occupied Western Samoa. So I suppose you're right 187baby, the US got (part) of Samoa from Samoa.
New Zealand occcupied German Samoa at the start of WWII, as Western Samoa. In 1962 the island became independent from all overseas countries and it dropped the word Western from its name in 1997.
Yes. Western Samoa is known all round the World as the last island to see the sun set.
I think it's about 12,000 kilometres, so about 14 hours flying time this is wrong. I used to live in Vailoa (American Samoa) and on clear days I can see Samoa (western Samoa) from American Samoa. It's about 100 miles. The airplane trip takes about 30 minutes on a twin engine Cessna.
Yes, us Samoans consider our country developed. I suppose it all depends on how the world relates to us, and us to the world.
All of the North American and South American continents are in the Western Hemisphere.
All I know is dat it takes at least two weeks for mail to get to Samoa from California.. but it myt depend on where its being mailed from so, it myt be da same vice versa.. hope it helps
No! They're two completely different ethnic groups. Samoans are from a country called 'Samoa' in the South Pacific, hence the word 'South Pacific' (Australasia) meaning Samoans come from a different continent from where Africans are from. Basically comparing a Samoan to an African is like comparing the English to the Chinese. Obviously, they're not the same.
The 2 similarities I see is that all are island and they all US territories.
Samoans eat the same food like all other ethnicities, with a few delicacies pertaining to Samoa only.
All of the North American and South American continents are in the Western Hemisphere.
there are no seasons in Samoa, the weather is pretty much the same all year round. There is no Spring, SUmmer, Winter or Autumn. There is a rainy and a dry season though.
