With the increasing cross-culturization and informality of naming, Sasha has become increasingly popular in a few cultures. Whether or not it is a "good" name is strictly a matter of opinion. Someone with strong formal ties to one of the cultures of old Eastern Europe might argue that "Sasha" is not an actual name. You should be aware that Sasha traditionally is a diminutive, something you might use for a child's nickname or a casual pet name for a good friend, like "Billy" for William or "Jimmy" for James, or "Bess" or "Betsy" for Elizabeth. In Eastern Europe and Russia where the nickname originated and was quite popular, anyone called "Sasha" was actually named Alexander or Alexandra. Sasha as an official name has only recently begun appearing on a few birth certificates there.
