Best Answer

No. It is its own original religion. However, L. Ron Hubbard was a member of Alistair Crowley's Thelema cult for a few years, before creating Scientology in response to a gentlemen's bet between he and Robert Heinlein.

Who is the boss of scientology?

Religious Technology Center (RTC) is a nonprofit religious organization formed in 1982 to preserve, maintain and protect the Scientology religion and is a Church of the Scientology religion. Religious Technology Center holds the ultimate ecclesiastical authority regarding the standard and pure application of L. Ron Hubbard's religious technologies. RTC is not part of the management structure of the Church and is not involved in its day-to-day affairs. RTC holds the Dianetics and Scientology trademarks and service marks, which Founder L. Ron Hubbard donated to RTC in 1982. Earlier, Mr. Hubbard himself oversaw the practice of the religion and registered as trade and service marks many of the religion's identifying words and symbols, such as "Dianetics" and "Scientology." These registered marks provided a legal mechanism for ensuring that Scientology religious technologies are ministered in exact accordance with the scripture and not altered by misappropriation or improper use. They also provide a legal mechanism to prevent anyone from offering some altered or inauthentic version of Dianetics and Scientology and representing it as the real technology. RTC grants the Church of Scientology International (CSI), the mother church of the Scientology religion, the right to use the trademarks and to license their use to all other Scientology Churches. While CSI serves as the mother church and is responsible for the overall ecclesiastical management, dissemination, propagation and defense of the Scientology religion and the various Scientology Churches, Religious Technology Center serves as the ultimate protector of the religion. While each Scientology organization and, indeed, every Scientologist is expected to enforce the standard application of Scientology scripture, RTC is the final arbiter of orthodoxy. Mr. David Miscavige is the Chairman of the Board, RTC.

Does scientology have priests or ministers?

Yes. I am a Minister of Religion, ordained and registered with the Australian government. I did my Ministers Course. The be a Minister in Scientology I believe is a great honour. To become a Scientology Minister of religion one needs to do some exacting courses, and the last course includes study of other religions. While this is not necessary to become a minister i have read the Holy Bible, the Holy Quaran, the Vedas, the Psalms of Islam, the Sutras, many Buddhist books, many other Islamic books, and Hindu texts.

Is scientology really real or a cult inspired by Canadian culture?

Scientology appears to be functioning as an actual religion. Whether any religion is "real" usually depends on who is speaking. Those who believe the teachings of the religion and follow its precepts will say it is real, true and correct. Outsiders often will have a different view.Whether it is a religion, a cult or a fraud, it was notinspired by Canadian culture. The Church of Scientology was founded by L. Ron Hubbard. Some time prior to his founding the Church, he spent time as a writer of Science Fiction novels. The Science Fiction community made note of his saying at one point that the surest means of becoming rich was to found a religion. That may have no relation to his founding of the Church of Scientology, but it does raise questions for some.

Can a child join the church of scientology?

Yes, many children do and there are no age restrictions as to who may participate in Scientology auditing or training. Some Scientology Churches conduct courses and study programs specifically designed for young people. Children below the age of majority must first obtain written consent from their parents or guardian to participate in Scientology services. Like adherents of other religions, Scientologists are very proud when their children join them in the practice of their religion.

What should you say when you are trying to spread your religion?

A:This depends in part on whether you are trying to spread Buddhism, Christianity, Falun Gong, Scientology or some other proselytising religion, as each has its own way of talking to strangers. A general rule is to be polite, explain why you believe people should be interested in your religion, respect the religion of people you speak to and generously accept rejection.

If Scientology is not legally recognised in some countries does that make it a cult?

Cult is a matter of perspective--in some countries Christianity may not be legally recognized! A cult really is a religion of any sort. The popular use of the word "cult" however, implies a "non legitimate", shady religion. Some of the teachings of Scientology are quite fantastic but then there are bizarre fantastic stories in many "accepted" religions as well--people being raised from the dead, etc.

How many Churches of Scientology are there in Egypt?

There are, as of 19 September 2015, no Scientology churches in Egypt. The closest ones would be in Israel. Egypt has a very limited freedom of religion, which really only applies to Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Some religions like Baha'i and Atheism (which would be a religious designation) are barely protected by the state. It is doubtful if Scientology would be permitted in Egypt in the near future.

What are some opinions on the topic of Scientology?

It is a huge scam to get peoples money. It is not a religion, but a cult. http://www.theultimatescam.blogspot.com/ Scientology is absolutely a scam to get people's money. It is a religion that stands for the good of all money-making. Gigantic scam, full of people who think that humans are all possessed. Made for the sake of getting rich quick, its a story that was made up over night by an over-dosing science fiction writer.
