Not always. Whilst dyslexia can play a part in a small percentage of people, it is only a factor in a minority of cases. Slow reading is often the result of any of the following:
- Poor concentration (due to any environmental or physical factors)
- Boredom with the reading material
- Inadequate early instruction in reading
- Inability to comprehend the material
- A speech-language impairment other than dyslexia
- Bad habits, e.g. using one's finger to follow a line of text
- Lower visual memory, for remembering and recognising word structure

∙ 14y agoNot necessarily. Could be part of dyslexia, but it could also be something else. Dyslexia is when a person reverses letters when they write or read them. Reading slow could be a laterality problem, a need for glasses, or any of a dozen of reasons. I wouldn't jump to conclusions but investigate and find out why.

∙ 12y agoIt depends on how look at it. Some say that slow reading is a result of mixing letters up. So, its not really a direct part of Dyslexia, it is more of a result of having Dyslexia.
