Yes. The Movie/Book, is educational because of its history purposes. Not only does it offer an insight on popular urban legends in London history, but it also can serve as an educational tool for those learning about aspects of theater (costume design, set design, direction, the music, acting etc). This is because most stage productions of Sweeney (particularly the 1989 version) are some of the best examples of what can be accomplished in musical theater.
The movie version of the musical offers a good example for those looking into film studies/production, as it offers a unique style and interesting production design.
