The longest skating rink in Canada is the Rideau Skateway in Ottawa, using the natural ice surface of the Rideau Canal from Rideau Street to Carleton University. It's annual season is from approximately January 1st to February 28th each year. The cleared length is 7.8 kilometres (4.8 miles) and has the equivalent surface area of 90 Olympic hockey rinks.
