All you're going to get here are opinions, so I'll give you mine.
Tom Cruise has a very catchy name and I guess is attractive to women. He is most often in movies where his character is an action hero. Is he a great actor? I don't think so. A lot of his lines seem forced and his emotions faked. You can't think of him as not being "Tom Cruise" during the movie. In comparison, an actor like Johnny Depp truly makes you believe he IS Captain Jack Sparrow or Edward Scissor Hands. In conclusion, he gets a lot more recognition as a "good actor" than what he deserves. Good as an action hero, though... but then again so is Jason Statham (who is not as good of an actor as Tom). Hopefully my point is clear.
