Hey,
I'm currently on the course doing QA testing through this company, and through my own research, and discussions with my Tutor's, I'll tell you what I've found.
Through my own assumption it's become apparent that people DON'T pay attention when they are being interviewed. They should. What is mentioned currently is the cliche of that the UK does not have enough jobs available, and more and more people are being made redundant, however, the Gaming industry struggles because it requires a specialist skill. You can't go to an interview at rockstar games for a job as an animator, show them your diploma and say you have the skills. What the Train2Game course gives you is a portfolio of evidence.
You need that portfolio to prove you have the skills to do that job, because gaming is a SPECIALIST, they cannot afford to employ people and teach them the skills at the same time.
Train2Game work alongside TIGA, who are the body of gaming within the UK, and they provide T2G with the resources for this course. I've been on this course for the most part of a year, I've thoroughly enjoyed it the entire way through, and I work full time Brick Laying, and I remember before I started, I was so passionate that I found a livestream of someone doing the animating course, and he would livestream everything he was doing. I'd sit there for hours watching this guy, and over the course of a few months, his skill with animating, and the use of different programs excelled so much I could hardly believe it.
You can make your own decision, people call it a scam because when they find out what is required for the Gaming Industry, a portfolio of evidence, not a diploma, and at a minimum 10 hours work a week, or even if they get rejected, they trash talk. This is a fact of life, and people will do this, more so in this industry because they think it is about playing games all day. This is not so. There is a difference between making a game, and playing a game. Any university course costs money, this is no different. They are a college, and they charge for the course. A university will give you a diploma, but that does not mean you will leave with a portfolio of evidence to prove you have the skills.
QA testing does require a passion in gaming because playing games is part of it. But it's not what you think. This could require, for example, jumping through a wall 100 times. You can find Vlogs, Blogs and all sorts of people doing this course, and I can assure you from my own experience and research. It's not a scam.
In short no, it's backed by some big names and supported by the entire European body for games TIGA. Government-backed employment training has always been confusing to find and mixed quality when you get it, so research cannot do any harm. The word "naff" might apply better than "scam".
Scam or cons
They mostly scam for "Rares" which are overrated in the game. Most people either hack or scam for them.
