Victoria Falls was made when volcanic activity deposited basalt. When this solidified, cracks appeared which were filled with clay and lime. The Zambezi River (and erosion) carved through this and created the first waterfalls. The river then carved through other gorges. The next waterfall will most likely be Devil's Cataract.
