I don't believe there is a Swahili name for the Falls. The local name , Mosi-oa-Tunya is from Shona or Bemba. Swahili is from the area about 1,000 miles north east of the Victoria Falls area.

I don't know much but since i am learning about rainforest's in school i know that the most famous explorer is Dr David Livingstone for his most famous discovery the Victoria Falls. He called it the Victoria Falls because when he discovered it it was the Victorian era and Queen Victorian was the queen then so he called it the Victoria Falls in honour of his Queen!
Victoria falls WA found on November 16,1855 I might add, David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary and explorer, is believed to have been the first European recorded to view the Victoria Falls. He was in the area of Zambia and Zimbabwe where the falls are located. He died in 1873.
