In my opinion, the best place for a family beach vacation in North Carolina is anywhere in the Outer Banks. I personally prefer Hatteras as it is the farthest away from "civilization". There is a quaint town there and plenty of places to stay. It also doens't have all of the amusement park type activities you find in a lot of beach towns.
