Scientists do not know when. Contrary to popular belief the volcano does not erupt at regular intervals. Scientists have not monitored the volcano for long enough to get a good idea of its general behavior. However, it is highly unlikely that it will erupt in our lifetimes.

Scientists are not sure. The volcano in Yellowstone has had super eruptions three times since the hot spot driving it reached its current location at intervals of 800,000 and 660,000 years. The last super eruption was 640,000 years ago. A smaller eruption occurred about 70,000 years ago. Such time scales make it impossible to predict when it will erupt next. Even volcanoes that erupt on much shorter intervals are difficult to predict. However, given the intervals involved the chances of it erupting in our lifetimes is extremely small.

It has been state super-volcano underneath the Wyoming park has been rising at a record rate since 2004 - its floor has gone up three inches per year for the last three years alone, the fastest rate since records began in 1923. However, it is bad science to try to predict a cycle of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years based on less than 100 years of data.

Nobody really knows when the Yellowstone Caldera will erupt. It is volcanic caldera and supervolcano located in United States, Yellowstone National Park. I have no doubt that scientists are keeping a very close watch over the volcanic pressure beneath Yellowstone.

Yellowstone is a stationary hot spot (as is Hawaii), and it will erupt again. [Meaning a large eruption, not just a geyser.] When is quite uncertain, and numbers such as "average time between eruptions" are virtually without meaning. Careful measurements of magnetic field, temperature, and chemical composition all give clues to the informed.

Yellowstone is a super-volcano. It erupts roughly every 600 thousand years, and the last eruption was about 640 thousand years ago, so we are 'overdue'. It is unclear when Yellowstone will erupt, but if it does, it will be quite a terrible event.

Scientists say that every 600,000 - 640,000 years , Yellowstone is suppost to erupt . Well it's been atleasts 635,000 years . My hypothesis is that Yellowstone will erupt within the next 25 years . When Yellowstone Erupts , it willl cause massive Tsunami's , Earthquakes , and Land slides . The lava inside it now is about 2000-2500 Degrees F . We do not have a exact date but we do know distance , time , and range . When Yellowstone Erupts 98% of North America is going to die . The state Florida Is at sea level ( 0 Elevation ) . We don't know what would happen to southern Mexcio or Florida . But it will kill 98% of North America

That is not known. We cannot make such long-term predictions of volcanoes. Neither have we seen an eruption from a massive caldera, so we are not sure exactly what to look for.

No. Contrary to claims that Yellowstone is "overdue" for an eruption, there is no indication of danger.
