Also, the timing belt has nothing to do with interference, the clearance between a fully open valve and a fully compressed piston determine interference. The belt only turns the camshafts. Checking the Gates Timing belt guidelines - this car does not have an interference engine no matter what engine size it is whether it's the 1.5, 1.6, or the 1.8L. Yes. 03 Sienna should have a VVTI engine ( a 1MZ FE with vvti ) which is an interference engine and the valves will hit the piston if it snaps at higher RPM. Pre 01 Siennas have non VVTI 1MZ FE motors, and those are non-interference, therefore safe.
