That really depends on how you define obsolete. Other than Video Games, most computers manufactured in 2001 should be able to run the majority of current applications at a reasonable speed, though most would not be ideal candidates for running Windows 7. The decision is entirely up to you. If it runs modern and secure software at a speed you can tolerate, then its not obsolete.
