I would say a passive 3D TV is good to have. Because it's flicker-free and larger viewing angles.

the d in 3d stands for dimensions. On a 2d TV you only have 2 dimensions but on a 3d TV you have 3 dimensions (length, height and depth)

3-D televisions without glasses have not been made commercially available yet as it is still a developing technology. 3-D televisions with glasses are available at Best Buy and on Amazon. You can buy glasses in pairs or individually and there are different varieties of glasses depending on the quality and price you want.
