Staffordshire bull terriers are dogs who really like younger people so a 7 month old Staffie could be a very good dog for you, but you have to make sure he/she gets lots of walks and exercise and that she is disciplined from the beginning to know that you are the pack leader.

Would a staffordshire bull terrier kill a fox?

I don't know. Pit them together and find out! -------- Yes but not if all things are equal. An Adult wild fox if attacked by a border terrier would kill the terrier. Wild animals are fast and tough, domesticated animals slow and soft....and apparently tasty according to coyotes that hang around towns and cities.

Are pitbulls and bull terriers the same?

If you define a terrier as it is supposed to be defined, then NO, a pit bull should not be classified as a terrier. Terrier means "earth dog," referring to dogs which go to ground for game. American Pit Bulls have never been used for digging out game, though they have been (and still are being) used for hunting boar and other animals. According to the AKC and UKC, they are registered in the Terrier Group (AKC recognizes the Pit Bull as an American Staffordshire Terrier). Possibly, they have been placed in this group due to their gameness, but many current fanciers agree that they ought to be placed in the working group for their talents as herding dogs, service dogs, search and rescue dogs, Schutzhund dogs, and even sledding/weight pull dogs. yes

Is a Staffordshire bull terrier the most strongest dog breed?

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is unfortunately severely stereotyped. Just because a dog is born a Staffy does not make it aggessive. Staffords are portrayed by the media as uncontrollable and vicious, when in actual fact, the largest number of dog bites in the UK come from Golden Retrievers - yet you never hear of such attacks happening. This is because newspapers target breeds which look tough and hardy, such as Staffys, Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermanns and German Shepherds. It is true that when raised incorrectly these dogs (like any breed) can develop aggression, but when treated correctly and brought up well, these can be the very best family dogs. PLEASE, SAY NO TO BREED SPECIFIC STEREOTYPE.

Which certain physical characteristics are Amstaffs bred to have?

They are a medium to large sized breed that is unfortunately illegal in the UK. The typcial American Staffordshire Terrier has tremendous jaw power and muscularity, with the ability to jump the highest fences. They have a great smile and huge head, decribed as being pure muscle and thick bone, with a soft centre!

What are the Names of types of pit bulls?

There are 4. The Spuds Mckinzie type. They are little, and have the big head. Those are Bull Terriers. Then, there is the "American pit bull terrier", which I have not seen, or heard of in quite some time, although I am sure they are still around. Then there is the most common show/fight dog, which is the "American Staffordshire bull terrier", and a miniature version of those called "American Staffordshire Bull Terrier," which these days, people are calling them "pocket pits." Now, there are sub catergories that brak down like this. And, as far as I know, these only apply to the most common, the Am Staff. A brindle, a red nose, and a blue nose. There is only a difference of colors, and markings, on those, however, they say the red nose is the meanest/toughest, but I don't really know about that. They are, however the most common when it comes to fighting. The blue nose are getting a bad rep. right now do to poor breeding techniques. They all can be mean, if they have bad owners, and all are tough. I do remeber, vaguely, before I got into them, something about a "red tip", which was supposed to have 5 red points. 2 eyes, a red nose, and 2 red tipped ears. But, I have not seen, or heard of one of those, since I was a kid....Chuck.

What do bull mastiffs and English terriers make?

Bull terriers were developed in England during the 19th century. Around 1835, a cross between the old English terrier and the bulldog produced the Bull Terrier. Later crosses to the Spanish Pointer; even later, to the white English terrier and Dalmatian, produced a stylish, tough, white dog.

Which two breeds made the pitbull breed?

the first Colbys dogs were bred in England in 1886 but The pit bull's ancestry can be traced back to roughly the 12th century, when European hunters cross-bred the molossus, an early mastiff, with the Bellenbeiser, or bull-biter--which became known as the bulldog--was used to attack dangerous game animals. With their powerful jaws, bulldogs could penetrate a tough hide, slash muscle, crush bone, and grip like a vise. While other dogs could track wild boar and bear, only the bulldog had the mettle to clamp its jaws on the larger animal's nose and hold it, allowing the hunter to move in for the kill.
